At the 'End of the Road' sits the best house on the island for a relaxing beach vacation. Just a short walk to the private beach access and a stroll on the boardwalk across the dunes brings you to the best beach in North Carolina where you can sink into the soft sand, search for your favorite shells, and sometimes catch a glimpse of a dolphin in the surf.
For those who prefer the wildlife of the marsh, the rear deck of the house will afford you the pleasure of sitting and watching the egrets frolic in the air and grass. Just beyond the marsh the Intracoastal Waterway separates the island from the mainland and also serves as a playground for sailors and fisherman alike. The parade of boats, ships, and barges are a pleasure to watch.
The house is comfortable and bright with good views from the kitchen as well as the sliding doors in the living room. You can even see the ocean from the front porch. A hot/cold outside shower is a treat at the end of a long day at the beach. Quiet, private, dead-end street, yet just three miles to the pier and five miles to the bridge and the restaurants, miniature golf, and ice cream and coffee shops. You will come back year after year.
There is a ROKU TV in the living room so bring your Firestick and a small tv in the of the bedrooms with an antenna.

What a wonderful time we had! We felt so comfortable in the house. Even the pillows on the bed were wonderful! I hate hotel pillows...they're always down pillows. These pillows were so fluffy! The view from the deck overlooks a marsh and it was beautiful. We saw a lot of egrets and watched the boats going down the intercoastal waterway. I even saw a deer wading through the water over to a forested area! Great spot to have your morning tea or coffee. At night when it was quiet, I would sit out there and could hear the waves crashing. The walk to the beach was short. What a beautiful beach! Very clean.. no rocks or seaweed. What a vast view! There are plenty of great places to eat and shop. All in all, it was a very welcoming home and we had a great vacation! Thank you.

We stayed a week at "End of the Road", and are glad we did. We brought our 2 year old along this trip and the house was perfect for our small family. The walk to the beach was short so we would go many times each day. The house is at the end of a very quiet culdesac and we heard no traffic the entire week. The back deck overlooking the marsh had to be one of the peaceful places I have stayed. So many birds to watch and it was fun watching the tide in the marsh rise and fall. The house itself was comfortable with all the features one could ask for. We would love to come back and stay again.

My whole family agrees that this home is the best! This is our fifth time staying here and it feels like a family tradition now! We love the peaceful view of the marsh…. Really great if you love bird watching! The ocean is a short walk away so really it’s the best of both worlds. The house has all you need. Aside from trips to the grocery store and seafood mart, we found no reason to stray far. Can’t wait to return!

We are so happy for renters like you!
It is the perfect place for our family--just the right size and so close to the beach!
The day always startes with coffee on the deck and ends with wine and the sunset on the deck. There is no traffic or noise, and the beach is not crowded at all. Be sure to walk down to the end of the beach at low tide for a special treat.
